Wheelchair Wars Part 3 (5)

It entranced him. The sheer scale of the human empire and all the different career opportunities in the army. So, he joined the Imperial Fleet and longed for war. At first, he thought that it would never happen, that all the battles were happening on the far edges of the Empire.

“But Trachtus five changed everything for me Timothy. Did you hear what happened there?”

“No, I didn’t,” Timothy replied, listening intently.

“A hole opened in the warp just outside the planet. The voices of chaos swayed the people and the 41st quadrant army against the Emperor. They were quickly reinforced by chaos marines. Such an abomination could not be allowed to stand.

We were sent to take back the planet. It was a very bloody experience, the resistance was fierce and durable. I lost so many good friends. I didn’t really understand war till then. Ninety percent of the population were against us.

As you will appreciate they all had to die. It was not something I had ever envisioned, killing women and children. other soldiers didn’t bother me. But it was the Emperor’s will.

I never hoped for war again because now I truly understood what it meant.”

Timothy noted the ominous tone in his voice.

Pegasus Part 36

Running furiously was not enough. I could hear its steps getting closer and closer and turned my head in despair.

Its mouth was opened wide and I thought its large teeth would be the last thing I’d ever see as it pounced on me. Then I heard what sounded like a gunshot. Blood splattered all over my face and body as its heavy body fell onto me.

Then I heard Tabitha screaming, “Are you okay Ciarán?”

Concern was etched into her voice.

She clasped my hand and between the two of us, I managed to get out from under the body.

“What happened?” I asked half dazed.

“I don’t know, they never gotten into this part before.

“Tabitha, is that you?”

A black man, not quite six tall holding a heavy machine gun was now standing just a few metres from us.

“Tahir?” Tabitha said under her breath.

Tabitha ran towards him and they embraced warmly.

This was the man that had saved my life but I couldn’t help but feel suspicious.

“Tahir, this is Ciarán. He saved me and helped get me here. He wants to join us.”

“Any friend of Tabitha is a friend of mine.”

He shook my hands firmly.

Then he said, “Come this way. It’s dangerous out here.”

Pegasus (Part 28)

Tabitha was now on her home turf and very much taking the leading role. I followed her closely. She knew what parts of the ship the droids would clear first so we weaved in and out of the different rooms to avoid them. They mostly took the form of humans but others were just lifters with wheels. Still, I thought we were finished when I suddenly collapsed. Fear and panic suddenly transcended over me. My heart rate quickened.

“You’ll be okay,” he assured me, “it’s the higher oxygen content in the air on this habitat that’s affecting you. You’ll be okay in two or three minutes. My body has been through this before so I’m not as badly affected.”

Stoically, I regained control of my body and followed her once again. A few moments later we were outside the ship and on the hanger floor. It was cool and smelled of cleaning fluid.

“Where now?”

“There is an unmanned train station just outside, we need to get on one of the carriages. It will take us close to the rebel base,” she remarked, “let’s go.”

With that, we crouched behind other spaceships and cargo, crawling from one to the other that was strewn high around the place.

The fierce heat and the pungent smell of exotic plant life struck me once I stepped outside. It was like a furnace.

“This way,” she commanded.

Writing Hiatus

Hello readers, hope you are all keeping good! Afraid I have an interview coming up at the end of this month, so my writing will be on hold for a few weeks. I really need to put all my effort in the study. I thought that I better let everyone know in case you were wondering what had happened to me..

On a side note, I watched the film Luther: The Fallen Sun friday, starring Idris Elba (absolutely brilliant, would love him as James Bond) and it was brilliant. Full marks, make sure to watch it.

Writing (comedy)

Hello readers, I’m back again.  They didn’t tell me in Specsavers that I’d ever see 2020 but here it is.  It’s been quite a long hiatus but at least I did something somewhat productive in our time apart.  I have finished my latest novel!  Okay, so I’m getting it reviewed, I might have to rewrite large parts yet but hopefully not lol  So it’s going to be called “The Irish Ripper” and no, its not about flatulance, but rather the hunt for a serial killer that’s terrorizing Ireland.  As you can imagine, it will be for adult readers only or kids with money.  I’d never send kids with money away, that would be censorship and that is something I’m totally against, unless it’s something bad about myself naturally.

I have been watching lots of youtube videos about how to improve your writing.  Don’t use adverbs, character arcs, how to write an opening chapter etc.  They are very good, if only youtube was around for the Leaving Cert, I’d have got all As.  Okay so I might be exaggerating but I surely would have bested that D1 in ordinary level Irish.  Not sure if people will bother with school in the future, it’s become obsolete with the all knowing Google and youtube.  You don’t even have to get up early.  It’s almost too easy.  Although they do expect you to work very hard, maybe that’s because they’re American and take everything so serious.

Being reading “Pride and Prejudice” for what seems like forever.  There are three volumes and I’ve only gotten through the first one.  I almost want those sisters married off quickly as much as their mother!

So Christmas has once more come and gone.  Ah well, at least the summer will be shortly here.  Always prefer that time of year anyway and who knows, maybe I’ll be a millionnaire by then, fingers crossed.
